There are countless ways how to spend a day in Disney World. For this reason, making a planning with your personal highlights is absolutely necessary. There’s a huge list of events and tours you can participate in. Do you like Star Wars? Then you might want to consider one of the Star Wars themed activities. Or have you always wanted to see Disney World behind the scenes? Choose one of the exclusive Disney World backstage tours. Some of these events charge fees. However, there are also some fun and free events and activities for the entire family in Disney World. Let’s share them with you right here.
Planning a day in Disney World is a huge task. There are FastPass+ reservations waiting, restaurants to visit, rides to ride and shows to see. Next to this, there are other options for events and tours to participate in. We visited Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in October, a nighttime event that requires a separate ticket. You can view the entire events and tours list to see all the options. Some activities ask for an additional fee, but thankfully, there are also a few free and very fun activities for the entire family available. Let’s take a look at some!
1. Drawing Class at the Art Of Animation Resort
In Disney’s Art Of Animation Resort you can participate in a free drawing class. During this event, you will learn how to draw a Disney character. The instructors are professional Disney Animators. You can keep the drawing after the lesson. Doors are open to everyone at 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM daily. To make sure the times are still valid, check them beforehand. You can park your car for free at the Art of Animation parking lot, but be aware your car is only allowed to stand here for a few hours (except for Art Of Animation Resort guests).
2. Movie under the stars
After a long day of walking in the parks, sit back and relax and enjoy a Disney classic movie under the stars at a Disney Resort. Many Disney Resorts offer this event which anyone can join. When we stayed at Art Of Animation Resort, this event was also organized. Check the hotel schedules for the correct times and enjoy Disney in the fresh air. For movie schedules, please check with the Front Desk at your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, or call (407) 939-2273.
Another event freebie for all guests. Join one of the Campfires, like Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long for roasting marshmallows and singing songs. Regular Campfires (without Chip ‘n’ Dale) are to be found at multiple locations:

4. Sorcerers Of The Magic Kingdom game
Battle against Disney’s villains with Spell Cards! You can play this game at the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom locations in Main Street or Liberty Square. Every guest is entitled to a pack of 5 Spell Cards for free per day. You will receive the cards at the location. It is possible to get more packs of cards in one day once you have beaten all nine villains. Elsewise you will have to get a new pack the next day. There are 60 cards in total to collect. So if you would like to collect all the cards as a souvenir, all you have to do is keep on playing.
5. Watch the fireworks
There are some excellent locations throughout Walt Disney World where you can watch the fireworks show for free. This means you don’t have to actually have to be inside the parks or have bought a park admission ticket to see it. For the Magic Kingdom fireworks, the Ticket and Transportation Center, the bridge between Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower, or the Polynesian Village or Grand Floridian Resort beaches will bring you a great view for free. Also, a great spot for watching and hearing the fireworks via a piped-in soundtrack is at the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. If you happen to have dinner here, you can have the fireworks show for dessert for free!
So here you go, a top 5 of free Disney World activities to add to your program!
